IE 9 64 bit or 32 bit. Which is best?
Hello,
Just wondered if anyone has pros and cons about which is best. IE 9 64 bit or 32 bit? Seems like the 64 bit version is a tad faster to me.

If I remember correctly, only the 32 bit version of IE 9 has enhancements making it far superior to the 64 bit version in speed.
Give them both a try on the Peacekeeper benchmark to see for yourself. Keeping in mind that this is only one benchmark but it will give you an idea.

64-bit versions of IE9 are likely to experience more problems with add-on such as Adobe Flash.
I've found through experience that, rather surprisingly, the 32-bit version is the more stable of the two.
Thanks, I'll play around with the 64 bit version for a while and see what happens. Do you think we will be forced to use it in the future?
At some point we will all be forced to go to 64 bit.
I currently run 64 bit Firefox called Nightly and Opera Next 64 bit for browsers. They are not general release yet, but are still in development. Nightly has seemed rock solid while Opera still has a few glitches. Just remember to use 64 bit Flash and Java if you are going 64 bit.
When IE9 was released, MS stated that the 32bit had an upgraded engine but the 64bit still used the older IE8 engine. MS said there was not a need for 64bit browser at that time and they did not spend a lot of resources on its development.

Good info to know. Just did the peacekeeper test with Firefox and Google Chrome. Chrome blew them all away at 575. Firefox came in second in the four hundreds, IE 32 bit came in at 379 and IE 64 bit scored 259. What a difference
