Win 7 HP/IE 9 display wrong language in Youtube

None of the other threads seem to match my case. I use Win 7HP and IE 9. All my language settings show English (U.S.), although I have German as a second language in Microsoft Word 10 and in IE 9. I have no language packs installed. When I go to Youtube I get the website in German. It is easy to change to English, but annoying. I have have tried everything I found on the Internet, but nothing changes. I asked also in Windows Forums and in Google Forums. Microsoft people seem to think that Google selects the language, while Google tells me that there is something in my settings, which triggers the problem.

    Hi,

Does this problem persist if you try in another browser?

Hi JDobbsy, thanks for trying to help. I only use IE9, because I am mainly using the computer for machine embroidery and some of the websites require IE9. I have always used IE (diff. versions) and I would like to stick with it. I just wonder, how Youtube determines, which language to use. The problem does not happen on other websites. Sewcat7

On the Google search page click on the gear in the upper right corner; on the search settings page click on languages:

I don't know what you mean by "Automatic". Mine just says "English" and there are no check marks in the table below that other than in the "English" box.

Hi Roncerr, The encoding in IE9 has an option Autoselect, Western European (ISO). When I untick Autoselect, I get just English. I used to have English, but somebody on the Microsoft Forum pointed out that Autoselect would might solve my problem. It does not seem to make any difference. Sewcat7

The language choice I was talking about has nothing to do with the browser you are using. It's on the Google Search website, preferences: Preferences . Select "Languages" on the left.

Previously, when I mentioned the "gear icon" in the upper right corner, I was referring to this page: http://www.google.com/advanced_searc...7&aq=f&aqi=&oq=

You might want to give those websites a go on Mozilla Firefox, just to explore that as an option.

    Youtube displaying wrong message

Hi ReviverSoft, I still IE 9 and I do not want another browser just for Youtube. I mainly watch sewing related videos and I just have to change the display language every time. I am still hoping that I can find out, why it happens in the first place. I meanwhile learnt from other users, that some get Asian languages and they cannot overcome the problem either. Sewcat7
