Windows 7 slow file and internet browsing.

Recently my compaq presario CQ56 has been running alot slower than usual, I have scanned with Spybot SnD, ESET and Free Malwarebytes, none of them found any viruses. I have a lower spec computer and it is faster on the same internet connection so I know it isnt the connection. This has only been happening for a week, I havent downloaded anything in that time. Please help

Are you referring to your internet speed or accessing programs is slower ?

Is your hard disk set to automatically defrag - this, I think, is the W7 default but you should check when it was last done because this can be a real source of slow down when accessing programs. You should also look at when you last cleaned out your internet temp files which can accumulate and be significant if not cleared out for a while. You could also run a known PC cleanup tool - check this one out....http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Check what programs are loaded at startup (start, msconfig) and stop any that are not needed, also look at task manager and see what is running in the background and what the CPU usage is.... stop any processes that should not be running. You do not need to switch off auto defrag as it usually only runs once a week.

Windows 7 slow browsing for no reason.

Windows 7 suddenly got incredibly slow internet browsing and even in ofline programs. I have ran anti virus and malware scans and found nothing, I havent had any updates recently and there are no driver problems.

Did you look at what I suggested in my last post - were you able to reduce the number of programs starting that were not necessary and what % is the CPU running at when things are slow and what program(s) are causing it ?

CPU is running at 70-100% when the commputer is running slow, I dont have any un necessary programs running on start up. No programs cause it to be slow, its all the time, from when I turn it on its constantly slow.

Maybe your hard drive is getting hard to read and needs to be replaced or perhaps repaired with a $90 program called "Spinrite" from www.grc.com.

But before doing that I'd run a few Windows Tools:
"Disk Cleanup" (via properties of c drive)
"Check Disk" (via properties of c drive)
    "sfc /scannow" (via command prompt).
