Incoming messages not displayed correctly through Windows Live Hotmail

    Hello all,

Can anybody help with this issue:

The characters in my incoming messages are not displayed correctly. I tried to reinstall it and also to adjust the coding; however, nothing has changed. I do not experience the same issue on my business laptop and even though I tried to compare the settings in both Hotmails installed, I was not able to come to a solution. Please see the attached screenshot

Thank you for your help in advance,

    Eni

Hi enipuskas, welcome to 7F! :)

    • When you say incorrectly you mean all those accents above/beside the letters. The fractions, % signs and ¬?
    • Is this all incoming messages or just from certain senders?
    • Has this just started?
    • How long have you had your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC?
    • Is the dv6 fully updated?

I have to look back in my posts, but there was a similar problem, and it was narrowed down to incorrect encoding by the senders email system.

There could also be a conflict in language packs. Have you installed any?

For the time being you could try running: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker, run it at least three times even if it reports all is okay.

    EDIT:
Found that thread, it is different, but if you would like to peruse, it can be found here: Windows Live Mail - Gmail issue

There is an interesting link here at post #18: Windows Live Mail - Gmail issue

If you can not enter the VIP Forum because of your newness, this is the link to JK's thread on WLM: HTLM emails showing as blank with .htm attachment - Microsoft Answers, It is iFiredog's reply to JK.

You may even want to consider asking your question there, click on the radio button at the top of the page. You will see the search bar rotate to Ask.

Exactly, I mean all those accents.
It is for all incoming messages.
I started just recently. I have the Windows Essential Hotmail installed on my company laptop and there the e-mails are displayed correctly.
I have had dv6 for some 2 years already, I guess but not sure; however, it is fully updated, I always run the updates on it.
I will definitely try your suggestions. Thank you a lot.
