    Junk email Mystery

If I receive a Junk email (Windows 7 64 bit - Windows Live Mail - Tiscali address); I right click the header and select Junk and further select "Add to list of Blocked Senders". In one case in 10 I get a message to say that this has been carried out. In the other 9 cases, nothing happens. I do check the list manually to see if I had already added that address at an earlier date. Not so.
I have found a long winded workaround but if anyone could offer an explanation; I would be grateful.

If I choose to add a Sender to the list of blocked senders in WLM, I too don't get any message regarding this having been done. But the name of the sender invariably gets added to the blocked list.

Thank you for your reply "Wanchoo"

When you add to the list; are you doing it as I described (from the email header - not first viewing the current list of blocked senders)? Or; are you going straight to the current list of blocked senders and clicking "ADD"

Well I think I did just like you said. I first Right Clicked on the Header. Then went to Junk Mail in the Drop Down List. When the Junk Mail Context Menu opened I clicked on "Add sender to blocked sender list". No message about this action is displayed.

Then I opened the Safety Options in the the Junk Drop Down List and found that the blocked sender had been added.

I hope that you are using the latest version of WLM like I am.

    Good luck to you.

Yes "Wanchoo", your procedure is exactly as I use.

I do not know if I have the latest version of WLM. My laptop is set up to automatically get new updates from Windows, so I should have it. However; how do I check the version? and what is the identity or the latest version?

The latest version of Windows Live Essentials was released in 2011.

You can download it here: Windows Live Essentials: Other Programs

    Hi RJH,

I think WLM is not automatically updated by Windows because it is a part of Windows Live Essentials. You have to download it from Windows Live Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials. Mine is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308) which I think is the current version. You can find out about your existing version by clicking About in the Window Live Mail Drop Down list. The Button is located on the left of the Home Tab on top.

Please be warned that there are a number of applications in Windows Live Essentials. If you want to install only WLM then please uncheck the rest before proceeding with the install, otherwise you shall get saddled with a lot of unwanted programs.

    Incidentally what was your version?

Thank you very much "Wanchoo" for your explicit instructions. My version is the same as yours - so the version in use is not the cause of the problem.
Thank you "Seavixen32" for your potentially useful information.
