Strange Problem IE redirecting links to Firefox

Hi,
I am using IE8. Whenever I open some links in Internet explorer, it redirects the links to Firefox. For example, If I type www. vibhavram. com in IE address bar and press Enter, the site gets opened in another window in Firefox. It also opens a blank IE window. Please tell me what was the problem and suggest me some solution.

Welcome to Seven Forums npchekuri. You say that with FF closed, entering an address into IE and pressing enter opens another browser (FF) to the web address you typed in IE?? That is very odd indeed. Is IE set as your default browser?

Open IE, click on Tools> Internet Options> Programs> In Default Web Browser section, put a tick next to Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser> Click Make Default

If you do not have IE as default, disregard. I have never seen a typed address in IE actually open that address in another browser before

So, this problem appeared a few days ago - firstly windows started alerting me that an application I didn't recognise was crashing every 5 minutes.
