Open Firefox windows no longer group with program shortcut on Taskbar

Hi, I've searched the forum but I can't find anything that addresses this specific issue.

For a long time I've had Windows Explorer and Firefox as the only two programmes pinned to the Taskbar. My Taskbar buttons are set to "Always combine, hide labels". When I open multiple instances of Windows Explorer, the open windows are grouped in one Taskbar button with the shortcut, as demonstrated in this screenshot with three open windows:

Firefox used to display the same behaviour, but recently, I accidentally unpinned it from the Taskbar. Now that I have re-pinned it, the open instances of Firefox (version 12.0) still group together in one Taskbar button, but no longer group with the Firefox shortcut Taskbar button, as shown:

I would like to restore the Taskbar to how it previously worked - where open Firefox windows would group with the pinned shortcut, not in a separate Taskbar button. Does anyone know how to go about this?

Thanks in advance, I hope I've supplied all the necessary details.

Try this after you open up Firefox the new instance of Firefox on the taskbar right-click on it and pin it to the taskbar then right click and unpin the old Firefox shortcut.

Yes, that's right, hopefully if it happens again I'll know how to fix it now!
