Alternative email program in 7

The users here can't stand WLM with its over-busy interface and buried everyday functions and so I found a nice simple email prog called Sylpheed. It is very easy to use and quick. It works fine with one exception.
It is not listed in default program options ( like it didn't exist) and so if you try to email out of an app, you are told no program is installed.
Any way out?

Sorry, my description above was inaccurate.

1) Sylpheed is installed and works
2) It has been selected to default for appropriate programs and shows as the MAILTO service
3) When trying to email a file out of an app directly, the message is 'install an email program or associate etc'
4) I can't find a way to get it to work for email links on web pages either.

More info. I looked at a registry entry for Sylpheed and it ends up with what looks like the correct command line to open Sylpheed in compose

HATE Windows Live. Simply hate it. I liked Vista's Windows Mail because you could edit forward emails and get rid of all the junk on the left side. What's another option for Email?
