Notepad email attachment problem

I'm not entirely sure this is the best forum for this but couldn't see anywhere else.
When you're posting/submitting articles/posts for possible posting on other sites they often ask you to submit it in plain text (Notepad) form by way of an email attachment.
I've noticed recently that even when I've checked the Word Wrap box under the Format function in Notepad, when I attach the file to the email and send it, then check it in my Sent folder, the Word Wrap hasn't worked and the text has all run off to the right meaning that the recipient would have to scroll all the way along about 18 inches to the right then back again on each line to be able to read the text, or else copy/paste it all into somewhere else which they may well not bother doing. Result: wasted time and effort.
It's the same if I use attachments on either my Gmail or Yahoo accounts.
I'm using IE9 (have had previous issues with FF) and Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Any advice/info gratefully appreciated.
