Changing the firefox new tab homepage easily without addons

I did try adding this to an old post that was the same discussion but it was too old to post on it looks like so thought I would make a new thread as I didnt see the new solution anywhere and it seems to get asked a lot

In Firefox you can now change the new tab homepage via the config page (only works in 12.0)

The new update seems to have annoyed a few people so heres how you can stop the new tabs showing your history if you dont change you homepage URL. Pretty much the same process just changing a boolean

I use a vast array of FireFox add-ons, as do many. I found the equivalent of some FireFox add-ons for Chrome but not all, I was hoping there is a list that tells you if such add-ons are available for Chrome ?

Firefox Addons Bar Not Appearing
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit Firefox 3.5.6 I have a number of addons that in Windows XP would show up at the bottom of Firefox as little icons (Greasemonkey, Colorzilla, MeasureIt, etc.) -- now on Windows 7 I don't have that bar at all. So now I have all these addons that I can't use. What do I do?
