    FF Browsing History

Ok, so I have kind of an odd request here. On my machine I'm running the RC version of Windows 7 Ultimate and have Firefox setup as the default browser.

I'm a divorced father of two (one 13 and the other 12), so they stay with me every other week. The problem I'm having is that every time they use the computer and I come home, they always delete the browsing history before I get home.

I have setup and "Kids" account that they use so they're not using the Guest account. I would like to know if there is a way to prevent them from clearing the browsing history in Firefox so that I can see the sites that they have been visiting.

I know that I could just tell them to stop doing it, but then they'll know I'm checking up on them and they'll only delete the sites they don't want me to see and leave others visible. Right now, they've been deleting the entire browsing history for the day.

I know it has something to do with permissions, but I don't even know where to start. I have worked for a couple of companies where they had all the end user PC's setup to where you couldn't clear cache, cookies, or history from the web browser.

So could someone give me a little how-to or point me in the right direction as to how I could accomplish this?

    Thanks

If you change the permissions for them you also change them for you, if you use the same profile. One method is to use FEBE, a firefox addon that backs up profile info. Have it run every x hours and even if they delete the built in browser history you will have another copy. You could also change the permissions to make the history folder read only but then they would know cuase they couldn't delete them. there are also 3rd party apps that will store the info for you in a different location

Good luck and let us know if you need more help

You could install some sort of spy monitor, google for instance for 'Website Spy Monitor'. You can make it invisible for the kids and it will track the web pages they visit among other things. I hope you know what you are doing and this might backfire on you.
