Comparative Thoughts? Pros & Cons: Windows Live Mail 2009 vs 2011?

For people who have used both. Comparative review of Pros & Cons, features and usage experiences would be great to have.

MS fixed 2009 when it wasn't broken.

I like the Ribbon on 2011. The rest looks the same. On 2009 there was a manifest error in Event Viewer but didn't hurt anything but it was fixed in 2010. Its probably the best e-mail client I have used.

I guess you're one of the rare few people who like 2011 more. Its nice to see another voice.

Besides the RIBBON are there other Pros and Cons / functionality difference between the two as per peoples experiences?

You mentioned all 3 versions but after saying "2010" your next sentence says "It's the best...". 2010 is actually the latest build of 2009 (14.0.8117.0416) so the two WLM choices are either 2009 or 2011. Of the two I prefer 2009 since it doesn't have the bugs that were added and never fixed in 2011 (e.g. can't forward embedded pictures in an email).

Is/ was that the only major bug? Is there a place where a LIST of bugs/ grievances by people have been posted on what BROKE from 2009 to 2011?

The 2011 version doesn't do stationary, even though its predecessors did: Q.&A.: Missing Stationery in Windows Live Mail - NYTimes.com . There are some bugs I've heard about involving things like fonts, the way newsgroup threads are grouped (if someone posts with a change in the subject line), and strange interactions with IE9.

It appears that Microsoft is putting all the effort into Windows 8 and the "apps" that come with it. Those apps will be replacing the Windows 7 suite of "Live Essentials" for the Metro part of Windows 8. (Of course, you can stick with Live Essentials if you like since Windows 8 on x86 chips includes Win7 fuctionality.)

    Thanks for the info. :)

I have never liked or used stationary.I pretty much hate the BACKGROUNDS etc that people add to email.

    Any other major features?

    ALSO: Are these 2009/ 2011 different versions? 32-bit/ 64-bit ?
