    Resolve PayPal Error 111 (net::ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED)?

    Please help! I have never had any problems accessing webpages on any browser and have not updated any browser of software. However, as of this morning I am unable to access PayPal from Chrome (19.0.1084.52), Internet Explorer, or Firefox (both the most recent versions). No problems with FB, Google, or any other https:// sites that I've tried. I use Windows 7 Home Premium on a 64-bit system. I had a friend sign in to my account from her computer, so I know it's not a glitch with PayPal. I can access paypal.com/paypal (in Portuguese??) but when I try to log in and it redirects to https://www.paypal.com and I get this message on Chrome:

    This webpage is not available
    The webpage at https://www.paypal.com/br/cgi-bin/we...locale.x=pt_BR might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
    Error 111 (net::ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED): Unknown error.

    On Firefox I just get a pop-up that says "Try again later!" and then am redirected to PayPal Sandbox. On IE I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" with some advice on checking the SSL and TSL protocols, which I did to no avail.

    I've tried EVERYTHING that I've found on forums across the net: run anti-virus, CCleaner, various cmd command prompts, checked my firewall settings, checked my proxy settings, changed the DNS address...and NOTHING works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!!!

    Welcome to Seven Forums charlotten22. You are not alone judging by my searching. This is said to be an issiue with proxy settings (unlikely with multiple browsers), or certificate errors (more likely). have you run Windows Update to see if you have any updates? I know that's unlikely. Suggestions are to clear cache and cookies.

    Delete your browsing history - Google Chrome Help

    You can also disable check for certificates as a test, but I cannot recommend leaving it that way. In chrome:

    Tools> Options> Under the hood> Uncheck Check for server certificate

    Try Paypal now. Recheck the setting and report back. A Guy

    Thanks, I had tried deleting the browser history from this week and unchecking the server certificate box already but tried both again and deleting everything "since the end of time" (haha) just in case. Unfortunately it didn't make a difference. I hadn't checked for Windows updates but the only one available was for Bing, which I don't want anyway. Interestingly enough, when I opened my browser this time, since my browsing history was gone, I had to type in www.gmail.com and got the same Error 111 message as I've been getting with PayPal. I was able to go to Google fine and then enter into Gmail..so I'm not sure why Gmail by itself was a problem this time. Oh, the joys of technology...

    Sorry to drag up an old thread but in the interest of completeness this solution worked for us: https://support.servertastic.com/ent...-unknown-error
