    IE9 - how to remove/disable Find bar

Every time I start to type in IE9 (whether posting on Facebook or typing in the search box on my Google home page or any other webpage) a new toolbar labeled 'Find' suddenly appears, the cursor jumps up there, and, of course, all of my typing ends up there instead of where I want it. I've started checking to make sure that the cursor is where I want it when I start typing and the first letter will appear where the cursor is but then the cursor jumps to that bar and all subsequent letters go into the Find bar instead. Is this a virus of some sort? I have looked at all of the add-ons and do not see anything like it listed. What is it and how do I remove or disable it? I've enclosed a screen shot which shows the Find bar. Thank you so much for your assistance!

Hello Addi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

"Find" is usually opened when you click on Edit (Menu bar) and on Find on this page, or by pressing CTRL+F. You can click on the X just to the left of Find on that toolbar to close it. :)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I have never clicked on Edit (Menu bar) and on 'Find on this page' or pressed CTRL+F. Also, even though I click on the x to the left of Find it always reopens whenever I start typing again. Is there any way to get it to stop or to disable it permanently? Thank you so much for your reply.

If you are using a desktop with a keyboard, then you might try using a different keyboard (if available) to see if there may be an issue with your current keyboard.

Is this only happening in IE9, and not say while typing in Notepad, WordPad, etc....?

If this is only happening in IE9, then you might see if completely resetting IE9 may help if it was a 3rd party toolbar or add-on that may have been causing this.

Thank you so much for your response. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I uninstalled the software, restarted my computer, and downloaded and installed the latest version. I also completely reset IE9 as you suggested but the problem persists. The only place I am having this problem is in IE ... everything works perfectly everywhere else such as Outlook, Word, or any other application. This is incredibly annoying and I would love to find a solution ... any other ideas? Again, thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond.

Do you have another keyboard that you could use instead to test to just rule out the Logitech keyboard?

As another test, see if it does the same while using Firefox. It'll be an aleternative until we can find out the cause in IE9.

Another test is to create a new user account, and see if it does the same while logged in it.

I was finally able to find an old corded keyboard and mouse and have not had the problem once since I started using them ... which means the problem is clearly with my Logitech system (either hardware or software) and not with my PC or any settings in IE9. I have contacted Logitech and am hoping they will be able to help me resolve it. Thank you so very much for helping me troubleshoot and narrow down the problem ... much appreciated!

You might check to see if you may have any stuck or sticky keys on the Logitech keyboard. If you do not install SetPoint while using the Logitech keyboard & mouse, does it still do this?

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this issue ... but yes, I uninstalled the SetPoint software and the problem persists. I sent an email to Logitech Support and they have not responded.
