Windows 7: WLM All buttons grayed out

All the buttons on the top of my WLM screen are grayed out. The only thing I can actually do is send a new email. I can't delete, forward, nothing. Has anyone experience this, and how did you fix it?

Thanks for your reply, koolkat77. You brought me luck! This morning, all my email buttons (the ones at the top of the page, not the ones referred to in the link) were all bright and shiny, and in full color. I have learned not to question the Technology Gods. There is no apparent reason for this. I had restarted my computer several times in trying to solve the problem (i.e., system restart, etc.).

I now have other issues which I'll post shortly. The WLM adventure isn't going smoothly, but I do like it so far.

This isn't a username or password issue. What happens is that I cannot erase the grayed-in example username/password on the sign-in page in order to type my own username/password. I am officially registered and verified, but I can't sign in. Can someone help?

Have you tried to just type anyway? It should disappear when you start typing.

That exactly what I'm talking about, derekimo. Yes, I've tried overriding it by typing over the grayed-in example, but my cursor won't engage. I get that window whenever I try to forward anything that has a picture or photo in it (not an attachment -- an actual photo). So, I just can't forward a lot of my email because of this problem.

I would try a repair of windows live essentials through the control panel, programs and features, uninstall/change and you'll get this window,

I did the "repair," but I am still not able to sign in or forward anything with a photo in the body of the text.

The tutorial is a bit beyond my level of computer skills. I don't really know how to get into some of those secret places that are called for. I would rather try that than do an uninstall/reinstall, however. Would this thread be an appropriate place to ask for help with the tutorial if I run into a wall?

1. Click on
2. Go to Accessories Command Prompt Right click and select "Run as administrator"
3. The Command Prompt Window will open
4. Then just type sfc /SCANNOW

Let the scan complete.

Thank you, koolkat77. I tried what you suggested, but I am embarrassed to report that I could not find (nor right click to find) "run as administrator." What did I do wrong?
