Viewing PDF docs within MS Internet Explorer

I don't know what changed, but up until recently — and this applies to previous versions of MSIE on previous versions of Windows) — from within MSIE, clicking a link to a PDF document, would bring the document up within the browser window.

Now (after whatever happened to change things), when I click on a PDF link, I get a warning message about blocked content at the bottom of the screen, and after I click "allow" (or something like that), the PDF file gets displayed, but not within MSIE, but natively, within an Adobe Reader X window.

    Okay . . . this is interesting . . .

I was about to conclude this post, but I went back and tested this one more time, and lo and behold: things have gone back to normal (PFD displays within browser)! Thing is, I have no idea what made it go back to normal... or what caused it to depart from normal in the first place.

Has anyone encountered this? And does anyone know how to force PDF-within-browser back into operation, once it becomes inoperative?

    Thanks.

The default is to display inside the browser. Maybe that setting got a bit scrambled for a while. Open the Adobe PDF Reader app, then go to Edit > Preferences and select "Internet" from the list on the left. You should now see the setting that I'm talking about on the screen to the right of the list.

    Perfect!

I stand educated! And mildly embarrassed: I should've poked around a bit, I think.

    Anyway, thanks a bunch.
