Windows 7: Incoming jpeg email attachments being changed to htm file

Incoming jpeg email attachments being changed to htm file

I am running Windows 7 pro 64bit on an Asrock 880GMH/USB3 R2.0 motherboard with AMD Athlon II X2 260 Processor 3.20 GHz _ 8gb memory _ Radeon HD 7750 video card running 3 monitor displays.

My problem (if it is a problem) is that my windows live mail in receiving mail, always changes any jpeg attachments to htm file extention, this worries me so much that I will not use the email on this PC and have to resort to using my other windows 7 home PC for emails, I am networked to that PC and my wife's PC which is XP pro and I have a swappable hard drive for this PC with XP pro 32 bit that was doing exactly the same thing, I reformatted the XP hard drive and reinstalled XP which is never used alongside Win 7 but is in a swappable draw that I change after closing the PC down, The XP after formatting is receiving the emails in just the same manner.

Hopeing someone can enlighten me.
