How to remove Bing toolbar?

Yes mixed through the entire thread are postings that are talking about all the aspects of the oem Search Box and some about the add-on Full Bing Search Toolbar, and I imagine it can be confusing for some to read all the threads and mentally keep track and separate all the information's as to what's what; hopefully by now every which way has been discussed.

Yes the oem search box as already been covered previously will show any other search engines within itself that get installed too, and once others get installed then it gives you the option to remove the Bing listing within there (although not really) because once you uninstall the others then the Bing listing appears again, but this is getting away from what imho the main OP point and reason was of which I always intuitively understood it to be, even from the moment I first installed Windows 7 in 2009 I had noticed it too, which was to remove that oem search box and not have a search box there at all ! ...It was never about just a 'Bing' search box per sey, or any other name brand search engine either (although yes the title of the post points at Bing but you see since it's the only one that's oem installed initially there) ..but again the point was to not have any Search Box there on the address bar at all, and is what my posts are all about with how to remove it from being shown there completely.

Help! I tried to follow the Reg.Edit advice above, but got to the Microsoft folder, and did not have the next level of InternetExplorer...which I found odd. Is this because I was currently in Chrome...Maybe since I just thought about that I should try it from IE. But I use Chrome all the time...how can I get rid of Bing from Chrome? Thanks!

Hi! In the last week I had quite a few problems with toolbars on two of my office computers so I researched a litle bit on the internet to find the solution. I have two links that might help you, two guides that were useful in my case to get rid of this problem.

not sure if this will work but under Manage Add on's, under network and internet, there is a box you can unclick that says Prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search engine." I unclicked it, not sure if this is a permanent fix tho...I, too, am trying to rid myself of this annoying program thrust on us without our permission. I hate it.

Better to keep it checked since you want to "prevent programs from suggesting changes...". As to removing an existing program, "Bing toolbar", have you tried Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel?

After reading these how to get rid of bing from Internet Explorer replies and suggestions I found none of them worked in Windows7 64bit

There is no need to go wandering through your registry looking for Bing because the majority of the suggestions are just plain wrong and most of those extensions just do not exist in the registry section.

However , there is one fool proof way to get rid of the Bing Search engine.

This is what you do.
Download Google search.
Now this will not show up in your search engine section until you right click the Google toolbar and go tool bar options and select install it as your default.

When you have done this go to the search provider section and you will be able to disable Bing.

This is an idiot proof way of getting rid of Bing.

Even Malware searches will not show Bing as malware so just do this simple solution and you will have no problems.
Bing also will not appear as a download in your Programs and features section because it gets installed via a windows update to Internet Explorer 64bit version 9 onwards
