Jeez -- it's melting down! I just found all of my "sent" items in "drafts," there are zero items in "deleted," and all the buttons at the top on both toolbars are now grayed out.

There is no "list" in the "view" drop-down menu. Woe!
Sorry, that's in the contacts window.

Is there a check mark next to "View by Conversation" ? If there is uncheck it.

OK, in the "contacts" window under "view" is "list," and it is checked.

"View by conversation" is in another window under "view," (right now it's grayed out), but I remember seeing "view by conversation," and it was unchecked.

I'm not sure that "drafts" and "deleted" problem, the toolbars being grayed out probably means the focus is elsewhere. Try closing and re-opening live mail.

This is going to be trial and error, I'm pretty sure it's just a "view" or "layout" option.

So closing and opening WLM restored all the buttons; they are no longer grayed out. Still, the "drafts" = "sent items" and zero deleted items (there isn't even a folder visible for deleted stuff) is just plain weird. I don't know what I'm doing to WLM to make it act so crazy...

Should I do an uninstall/reinstall? What would happen to my contacts, emails, etc.?

That might be worth a try, but first will you go to your live account,

The online one you setup in the other thread

    and check your contacts there.

I'm sorry to be so dense, but I don't understand where my other account is.

That's alright, it's the online one I asked you if you could sign in to it in the first thread.

It's all the same account, it's a windows live account but you can access it through live mail or through a browser.

There was a place to sign in, so I did that and was taken to a page that had a place to download Windows Live Essentials. I didn't see anything about my contacts.

OK, if you are signed in can you see your user name anywhere?

Click on it if you do, if not just google search for "Windows live home" and it should take you to your home page.
