As I am quite unable to decipher what version of Firefox, what release of Flash, nor any YouTube urls you are using or tried, because you have posted no meaningful information which others might use to assist you in fixing the problem, perhaps after reading my reply you will be willing to be forthcoming with such details. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz OS Not Myself CPU Not Myself Motherboard Not Myself Memory Not Myself Graphics Card Not Myself Sound Card Not Myself Monitor(s) Displays Not Myself Screen Resolution Not Myself Keyboard Not Myself Mouse Not Myself PSU Not Myself Case Not Myself Cooling Not Myself Hard Drives (1) WDC WD10EADX-22TDHB0 (2) Generic Mini SD Reader USB Device (3) Generic USB CF Reader USB Device (4) Generic USB MS Reader USB Device (5) Generic USB SD Reader USB Device (6) Generic USB xD/SM Reader USB Device (7) Seagate FreeAgent Go Internet Speed Not Myself |

YouTube requires Flash player in order to watch video. Chrome uses it's own built in version of Flash Player which is automatically kept up to date. Firefox requires the Flash plugin, available from the following link: Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware m15x (my main PC) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i7 740QM Memory G. Any Firefox release that old is suspect, in terms of such "minor" details as security. The complaint that addons, by which I assume you mean extensions rather than plugins, get disabled is both common and easily overcome by the simple expedient of updating or replacing those that don't work. History and bookmarks ought not be deleted by updating, although going from 6.x to 13.x might cause that--and it is easy to make backups of the relevant files before moving to current, secure releases.
Please go to Index page • mozillaZine Forums , and use the right-hand search box to look at the myriad of threads on these subjects.
As for using recently-updated Flash versions, it is possible that they might be incompatible with older Firefox versions; I don't know that that is true, however. Again, a search for Flash at MozillaZine will show you how to do such things as testing Flash with Firefox and remedies for Flash problems. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz OS Not Myself CPU Not Myself Motherboard Not Myself Memory Not Myself Graphics Card Not Myself Sound Card Not Myself Monitor(s) Displays Not Myself Screen Resolution Not Myself Keyboard Not Myself Mouse Not Myself PSU Not Myself Case Not Myself Cooling Not Myself Hard Drives (1) WDC WD10EADX-22TDHB0 (2) Generic Mini SD Reader USB Device (3) Generic USB CF Reader USB Device (4) Generic USB MS Reader USB Device (5) Generic USB SD Reader USB Device (6) Generic USB xD/SM Reader USB Device (7) Seagate FreeAgent Go Internet Speed Not Myself |

What does it say about flash when you go here? Find version
What do you see on youtube, just a black box? The initial image from the video? The player controls?

I am sorry to be so harsh, but that reasoning is idiotic. I have the latest version of Firefox with all my favourite plug-ins that I have been using for years now as well as all my bookmarks, some of which I don't even remember why I have them, that's how old they are.
Just last week I switched to Waterfox (basically Firefox in 64bit), which is a modded Firefox and even that runs all my plugins without a problem.
You are making yourself vulnerable security-wise. Browser updates are not merely cosmetic. and since 6.0.2 there have been 7 new major releases of Firefox.
I suggest you export all your favourites (I don't know the exact wordings in FF6 but go to Bookmarks Manager --> export) and then just install the new Firefox. It will automatically check for compatibility on all your plug-ins. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core i7-2600K Motherboard ASUS P8P67 Memory 16 GB (4x4) G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 Graphics Card 2048MB HIS Radeon 6970 IceQ Turbo Sound Card Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio Monitor(s) Displays Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS (27"@1920x1080) Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Mouse Logitech G500 Case Lian-Li Hard Drives 2 TB on usual HDD
