The clean install was performed by your computer tech?

Was the OEM software installed as well?

Typically there's an OEM supplied piece of software that's loaded on a laptop that allows you to access the enhanced features of your touchpad. Check in Control Panel or the little icons at the right-hand end of the Taskbar (near the clock) to access that app. Seems like I most often see "Synaptics" loaded on laptops for touchpad control, but it very well may be some other app (depends on laptop make/model).

had to jump through some hoops on this one.

sony support was excellent. online chat gave me links to solve problems including how correct for a caution bad battery message, and the drivers to get the Fn button working.

    very pleased right now.

Great! Sounds like all you needed after the clean install was the OEM software (drivers) specific to your model. If the clean install was done properly you can feel confident your machine is clean.

You're welcome! Glad to help. And thanks for the compliment.

By the way, the website you mentioned in your very first post (metrolyrics.com) appears to have a checkered past (not saying this from personal experience but just checking around for info on it). Not sure how it stands now, just thought I'd mention it.
