go to a working Win 7 computer.

    When there,
First WIN + E | rt-click on the drive | click on Format and make sure that NTFS is seleted.

You need to fool the WDO routine into thinking that it has never seen the usb stick before.

Your "working" computer is also probably an infected computer which is why the recommendation from Microsoft is to install WDO on to the USB using another computer.

    karlsnooks,

have gotten a trojan. went to a website looking for info on my new slide for my guitar.
got attacked. not a pretty sight. computer hard drive noise very loud.

computer has been wacked from it. bad shape. inquired on new thread. was advised to do clean reinstall.
that looked like it might be over my head.

so I went this route again. WDO found a trojan and removed it. that was with the quick scan. am doing the full scan now.

    any thoughts?

Seems as though Karl may be busy with real life issues or something. Everyone here is a volunteer. I've been very busy myself lately...

A clean reinstall may be your best bet. Unless you're really good with monitoring your system(s) and network it'll be hard to ensure you're clean after clean up activities. And even if you are good at that sort of thing, do you really know for sure that you were able to clean it completely?

Clean installs are really not that hard if you can follow the directions to the letter. Review the whole procedure first to ensure you know what each step entails. If you're not sure about any of them you can always ask here in the thread.
