Fresh install of W7 64Pro on new PC. Some web pages won't load.

    Hi

I have a new desktop running win 7 64bit pro. After doing a fresh install the only thing I did was remove the trial version of Norton AV. Now many pages will not load in either IE9 or chrome. Some pages load but when you try to click on links. Our other laptops on my network can browse the internet without any problems. Pages that load on them will not load on this new desktop.

The desktop is connect to the network via ethernet cable.

I've been able to download and receive windows updates.
I was able to download google chrome.
I can get to Google but I when I click on the links the pages will not load, it just sets there and never gives me any error.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Try this tool to make sure that all parts of Norton AV is gone:
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/nort...=english&ct=us

Then try the steps in this tut to see if something got damaged during the uninstall:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Then try this...
    What is Windows Defender Offline?
...to see if something was hiding on a partition that did not get wiped during the fresh install.

I tried all three things you suggested. Before I could do any of that I installed a wireless usb adapter, disabled the LAN and as soon as I did I could browse the internet and go to any pages without any problem.

I ran the Norton AV removal without any errors.
I ran the sfc tool and it found no errors.
I didn't run the windows defender bacause this was a brand new pc and drive never had any previous windows install on it.

The motherboard is a ASrock A75M and I went to their web site and made sure the driver was up to date.

i removed the wireless adapter and enable the lan and as soon as I did I started having problems browsing the internet again.

Any ideas? Could my network adapter on the MB be bad?

    Thanks for any help.

These problematic partitions are the result of an infection. These types of infections load before W7 and can completely hide from your antivirus software. Since your computer is new, the BIOS most likely lets you boot to USB - so it won't be hard to run WDO.

That said, an infection would most likely impact all network adapters - so you probably are not infected with the type of thing that I'm working with here: Trojan:Win32/FakeSysdef

You could have a bad connector or circuit on the MB for the LAN jack or maybe too many tunnel adapters. Read this Can't Connect to Servers - Microsoft 6to4 Adapters - Bates College Help Desk Services

Their is a possibility that a infection will only effect what was install on your coputer at the time of infection and new addition will not be infected such as your wireless. I still would use Defender off line.

I think I figured out the the problem. I reformated the drive, re-installed windows 7 64 pro again and the problem still existed. I again checked the ASRock web site for updated LAN device driver and found I had the current one from their site. In checking device manager for any driver issues I noticed the LAN device as a "Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller" so I went to Realtek's web site, found the current driver from their site and installed it.

As soon as I installed it internet access started working correctly. All web sites were accessible and displayed correctly.

SO... seems the driver installed with the ASRock A75M motherboard is defective. Anyone with that MB might want to download and install a new LAN driver from the Realtek site.

Thank to everyone for your help trying to resolve this.
