    Heads up for Gmail Users

I noticed this behavior with my Gmail late last week:

I am also experiencing the same behavior, and feel the same as GeepersKreepers. I am not exactly sure, but I first noticed this about late last week (07-27-2012).
It seems to have coincided with the plethora of Spam emails that I have recently been experiencing.

The email address does not show on any roll-overs/hovers of any emails or Group Labels on the main page after log-in (Inbox). The name of sender shows, but not their email address underneath.

The usual behavior does show on the roll-overs/hovers of the Contacts page i.e. The Contacts name with their email address underneath.

The unusual behavior occurs with both of the browsers that I use:
    IE8, and FF14.0.1 with, a fully updated Windows 7 SP1 OS.

I will be monitoring this thread for future updates.

    Thank you,

There is another more involved thread here: Sender Address No Longer Appears When Hovering Over Sender in Inbox

The Moderators there have escalated the concern to the Gmail Team, and I will be monitoring the thread for any updates.

I checked mine, and they are back.

At least for me progress has been made!

I just checked my hovercards, and they are all back to showing the name, and email address.

Even if technical, it would be nice to hear an explanation, whether it was on my end or Gmail's.

    Solved for me, for now.....

    EDIT:

I have seen posts at google groups after the one above, and other users are still experiencing the problem.

    Please see post #4.

Here's one for you. I have several gmail accounts but one of them, requires me to sign out TWICE. I hit the sign out button, the screen refreshes goes back to my inbox, hit it again and THEN it logs out. Only one of my gmails does this? Can anyone explain this odd behavior? Firefox browser on Win7X64

It is possible that, that one account is going through a different server. One that hasn't been updated yet.

As far as I can tell this behavior has been ongoing since google made the switch to the new GUI, (about a year ago?) and it has been causing sporadic problems throughout google's server farms.

The best advice I've seen so far is to make sure all browsing history, and cookies are cleared at the end of the session.
I imagine the next thing the user will have to do is: Flush the Contents of the DNS Resolver Cache in Vista and Windows 7 after each session, wouldn't that be a pain?

But, that is what I have always done except for the flush, and the glitch I ran across affected me.
It is still affecting other posters at the links in my OP.

See if this link will work for you, it is one of the bigger ones I've found on the subject: https://productforums.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!search/I$20now$20have$20to$20click$20TWICE$20to$20sign$20out$20of$20Gmail?/gmail/eETAgrOXCWI/7or-2vmEobsJ

It did for me this time, but if not then you are affected like me where I get a g-error: Heads up for Gmail Users-gerror.jpg

Then you will have to find another way to get into groups. I just kept banging away until I was able to complete a search without the error.

Until google owns-up to what is going on, I'm okay with the knowledge that this is entirely on their end with the problems they are having updating their server farms, and it has to do with them biting off more than they can chew.

As of 12:39pm edt problem/glitch was declared fixed:
If you're still not seeing email addresses when hovering over a sender's name in your message list, please make sure to refresh your browser or sign out and sign back in to Gmail before checking again.
