IE 8 and 9 issues in Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello,

I've tried searching on this but have not found the exact issue.
All of a sudden, without any known changes made to my system, IE is experience problerms.
IE 32 bit stopped opening pop-ups. Nothing happens. Even if I turn off pop up blocker, no popups work. OWA all of a sudden starting giving me some sort of 'out of memory' message which is ridiculoous since I had just booted up and my pc has 12 gig of memory. Anyway, I'm havnig to switch between the two versions of IE.

This has ocurred on two Windows 7 64 bit systems.

Anyone experiencing this? Perhaps some Microsoft update caused this?

    Thanks for any help,
    Barry

    bg, welcome to Sevenforums!

Mate, have you done anything to the page file? Go to System Properties>Advanced>Performance>Settings (leads to Performance Options)>Advanced>Virtual memory>Change. Select Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

You can also reset IE: Internet Explorer - Reset

Let me know how this works, and if it doesn't, I'll give you more things to try. Make sure windows is completely updated! Updates should be completely safe, but sometimes they have problems when they conflict with other software on your computer.

    No changes have been made

Thanks for the welcome and reply.

I have not changed the page file and had done an IE reset to no avail. Sorry should have input that into my initial post. Microsoft updates are 'up to date'.
So my PC has IE 9. The Laptop has IE 8. The laptop was the first to experience this phenomenon. A week later, the PC started.

    Barry,

Well, then we shall see if we can spot similarities between the two. It may have tod do with your antivirus software. Do you have the same one loaded on both machines? One could have updated the ativirus at a time different from the other.
^ Which AV do you use (on both machines)?

    DusstSailor,

    Different AV between the systems.
    Norton 360 on the PC.
The laptop I connect to my company's network, and that AV is Symantec Endpoint protection.

Any similar programs at all? Do you change any IE settings from the default, such as in Advanced Options?

Both computers claim to be running out of memory? And both computers have the pop-up problem? Do you change other computer settings, or use tune-ups/cleaners? If you still can't find the problem, please list all similar add-ons and programs NOT by microsoft from both computers.

If you LEFT-click a link, what happens? Are you refering to a specific pop-up, or all pop-ups in general?
