Back button = too many ads

Many of the pages I go to are blogs or news sites.. I will follow a link, then I can usually hit the 'back' button and it takes me back to the place I was on the previous page.. However, sometimes an ad will be in the 'back' button.. In fact, if I hold down the back button to get a list of previous links, they are all ads! Is there a way around this? Right now I just pull down the address bar and go back to the page I want.. Not a big deal, but it doesn't remember where I was like the back button does..

    13) No ad blocking discussions. This site depends on ads to pay for the costs of running and maintaining it.

Instead of using the back button I usually open links in a new tab (right click). That way I can retain the page I started from.

Once you have the new tab open if there's a link in it you can just click without opening a new tab then close it when you're done.

Doing it this way is I don't lose the page I initially started from, I can close the tab(s) and still have the page there to continue browsing the links of interest on that page.

    Steve,

That is very clever, thanks for that idea!

I'm not specifically asking about ad blocking (I didn't thnk of that), but I'm definitely wondering how they can code the web page so an ad can be in the 'back' history like 50 times... Very aggravating!
