Watching U.S. streaming video when not in the U.S.

I'd like to watch U.S. websites when travelling outside of the U.S. This lifehacker article on watching hulu outside of the U.S. might be relevant so I tried it and my Firefox browser still fails to show the streaming video. Any suggestions, please?

Edit: the lifehacker article from July 2010 http://lifehacker.com/5583515/access...a-proxy-server

Is using a proxy server located in the U.S. out of the question?

Since the lifehacker instructions didn't work, I tried a U.S. server with Foxy Proxy Basic add-on and still I can't get through.

    Hi.

I recently started using PrivateTunnel and it's the solution to what you're experiencing. They have a Windows installer... and it just works. You can watch Netflix, Hulu or whatever.

The first 100 Megs of data transfer are free, and then it costs $12 for 50 Gigs! It's cheap and it's great.

The other option would be to use Unblock-us. It's pretty good too.

Coincidentally I also settled on PrivateTunnel. I like that you pay for service; not by the month.
