Windows 7: IE 9 Window size issues

There are several ways to reset IE - but you might want to download the tool in this link:

SF IE Restorator - Troubleshooting General Issues with IE

The download link is near the bottom of the page. Once downloaded, follow the steps on the page. Make sure to run the app as admin so that it can do its thing. If you don't want to install the app (and I understand that) then I can tell you how to reset IE manually. But if resetting IE does not help, then the next step is to re-register the DLLs. It is best to use that tool to do that.

Edit: in case I was not clear:
download the app
run it as admin
press the button to reset IE

Sounds easy enough I think. May sleep on it. Will I lose all my IE Shrtcuts & Favorites?

I looked at link & read through it & only saw IE7 & IE8 mentioned so I assume it'll work with IE9?

Are you saying in your Edit just click Reset IE after I start it as Admin.?

Thanks...............Bill

It should work for IE9

I do not think that you will lose favorites - it does reset the home page(s).

But wait a bit - something might be happening with the latest patch - there are two other people having this same issue and they said that it just started - so resetting won't fix that. Hang tight while I look into it.

--My laptop has same OS & such & has not had theseproblems with IE9,
--I clicked on the Link you provided, PC-Doctor, performed steps in Thing 1 to no avail, then did Thing 2 and results were, 1--the shortcut links on my Desktop may have doubled in size, 2--This Window is now opening to size in my #1,
--think I'll do a System Restore to get back where I was. The Links in Task Bar also open in size I described in my #1.
Thanks for all your efforts to help..........Bill

System Restore did take me back to where it was prior to performing Thing 1 & Thing 2.

So - are we back to square one?

Do you still get IE windows that do not open as you would like them?

From what I saw in my hours of playing with IE, it loses it's mind at times.

Using the default taskbar shortcut...
(one set to open a normal windowed window)
...it can sometimes follow the norm of honoring the last shape
...other times, it get stuck in one shape.

Dragging the address from IE to the desktop makes a pinned shortcut...
(those shortcuts have no place to set the window state)
...it can sometimes follow the norm of honoring the last shape
...other times, it get stuck in one shape.

Manually creating a shortcut via right-click > New > Shortcut...
(those shortcuts also have no place to set the window state)
...it can sometimes follow the norm of honoring the last shape
...other times, it get stuck in one shape.

Resetting IE always worked for me - it fixed the window shape when it got stuck.

I'm not sure what else to tell you to try.
