    Windows Live Mail

Probably not the right forum to ask this question, but probably a simple answer. Where, what folder, are my email messages located? Sorry, with Windows Live Mail? Can they be viewed from that folder? Thanks

Let me ask in a different way. My WLM has been opening pretty slow for quiet a while. It takes about 20 seconds for it to load, before letting me type in my password. My wife and I have different accounts. We both have lots of old emails in our inboxes. We would delete them but there is some we want to keep. Is there a way to move the ones we want to keep to another folder and then delete all the emails out of our inboxes? I have a HP simplesave hard drive I could move them to if there is away to do that? Thanks

In WLM 2011 you can create a new folder.
Two ways i see to do this are:

Option 1) In the Ribbon, click on the Folders tab and then click New Folder.
Option 2) In the left hand navigation pane, click on an Account and then click New Folder.

Move your emails you want to save to your new folder(s).
Delete the rest of the emails from the Inbox you don't want to keep.

I expect other versions of WLM are similar.

What I need to do is move them completely out of WLM. Can I find that new folder some where in my computer files and move them, lets say into my document folders for safe keeping? Thanks

WLM has an Export option that should get a copy of them out of WLM.

The folder where WLM Messages are stored for for me is (<USER-NAME> = my user name)
    C:\Users\<USER-NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

You could probably copy messages from this folder to somewhere else...
Messages are .eml files, and you can open them with notepad.
To me it doesn't look like they would be easy to work with this way...

Here is a thread where i just posted how to move the WLM email folder (Post #9):
How can I choose where to install windows live mail?
