Windows 7: IE9 Waiting for response from XXXXXXX

I have been getting this in several sites lately. It's in the status bar at the bottom left of IE9.


In this instance the browser page went white but didn't say it had quit responding, for over 5 minutes. Hitting the refresh button opened the site again.
This happens with almost any site I visit. The site will generally open fine but when navigating through it, the delay happens.
My download speed hasn't fallen off, it's about 11-18Mbs, no proxies in use.

Any ideas would be helpful.

I've found these steps usually fix IE9, Gary. I've listed them in the order I found that worked for me. (I also provided the relevant links in case others who are less familiar with the procedures read this. Not because I thought you needed the info. )

1. Try to run IE9 with no add-ons:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (with no add-ons)

4. Uninstall / reinstall

5. Run sfc /scannow command & check the result.

Thanks Lee, running with no addons helps some things but then IE is a bit useless.

I've done the sfc /scannow, run 4 AV/malware scans, one online.
I'll work on 2.3.4. and 6 and see what breaks next.

Troubleshooting Internet Explorer Issues

Did you by chance install that IE9 security update that MS posted recently? My IE9 went to the dogs after that.....Uninstalled the update and all was well.

My IE9 has those issues too.

Stopped using it. Firefox works great and has the enormous benefit of the NoScript add on.

It's likely, I install all MS updates, will check. This has been going on for a long time though. Do you have the KB number?
I've tried FF before and came to mistrust it. I don't know nor can find where it stores its "stuff", temp files, bookmarks and I understand it will upgrade on it's own.

In AppData, local & roaming.

Tick 'Never check for updates' in settings.

4wd: Thanks for the info.

Outlander: Checking my update History that update was installed on Sep 21. However in Installed updates it shows it has been pending since Sep 21. I uninstalled it and testing, so far no lag today.
