sync bookmarks FF <=>chromium without Xmarks?

I was using Xmarks as it's available across both browsers. But it scrambled everything. I seem to have chrome sync finally working. But I still have no good way to download into Firefox. I have SyncPlaces in FF. That's the only bookmark syncer I've tried so far that works without making me rip my hair out.

Trouble is I have to manually add bookmarks to FF every time I add something to chromium. Then I can SyncPlaces up and down to get it onto my other machine's FF.

Xmarks, forget about it!! Always loses favicons and creates dupes. More hassle than manually adding the bookmarks.

I tried GMarks for FF. I set up the info. Logged in. Then there's nothing there!! It's empty!! There's got to be a sane way to do this stuff!!! Arrrrgggghhhhhh!!!
