ok, have a look in appadata local /mozilla..
ok thats a tricky one.
i would be tempted to take a screenshot of my extensions page in firefox so i could reinstall them all, and then do a fresh install of firefox,
first back up your saved passwords
and i would back up my bookmarks
i use xmarks for doing this as i can sync bookmarks between computers, one saved on the laptop shows on the desktop when i open firefox again.

also before you do this could you check that the avg stuff is not in your control panel /programs and features,
also what anti virus do you use?
i think mozbackup will keep the avg stuff also,so it will replace it again when you restore from the backup.
a few months ago i tried restoring from a mozbackup and it failed ,so personally i dont recommend it,. the way i back up firefox is to copy my firefox profile to another location if im doing anything tricky and want to feel secure
my bet is that your antivirus has made the firefox extensions, you could see if there is a setting for stopping the browser extensions via the avg settings, i dont know for sure as i never used avg.
have you considered using a different antivirus.
i can recommend MSE and the majority of users here use it also.
its possible that even a fresh install of firefox will see the avg stuff come back in your extensions
If AVG has an uninstall/removal tool that can and does remove all things AVG, perhaps an uninstall and reinstall would get rid of the unneeded extensions, especially if they weren't part of the AVG package.
Norton has extensions that came with the package. Fortunately, they only work with 32-bit browsers. That's one way of getting rid of them.
Ok, thanks.
Have a look in C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2012\Firefox\
Delete the DoNotTrack folder
I am assuming the safe search extension is in the same Firefox folder. If you want, copy that whole folder to a different location, then delete it entirely and see if both extensions are gone. Make sure Firefox is closed as you do all of this. If no joy this general help for removing extensions might do:
