Why there is a number after "www" ? Is such a site trustable?

Hi all,

I sometimes see numbers after the "www" in the URL of a website, for example: www1.example...com.
If there are two versions of the same site, one with number after www, and the other without:
www1.example.com
www.example.com
then, could we trust this site?

Thank you.

Just extended hostnames, you'll probably being seeing it more in the future so might as well get used to it.
