    IE responds slooowww

    Hi,

It takes IE about 3 minutes to open. I bring it up and I have a white page. The window is frozen until the page fully loads. I can't scroll. I can't click on tools or home or favorites. I can't even get out of the page without bringing up task manager. I called my internet provider. It's not the modem. He had me start up in safe mode and the pages came up fast as normal again.

    What could be doing this?

How can I fix this annoyance without reformatting?

    Thank you.

Do you have a lot of toolbars, this slows down IE dramatically. Try disabling any of them that you don't need.
You could also try resetting you IE settings back to their default: Tools > click "Advanced" tab > Reset.
Also check your add-ons: Tools > Programs > Manage add-ons.
You could also try rolling back to a previous version of IE, and then reinstalling the update again.

Are you experiencing any decrease in speed when using any other applications/browsers or is it only IE?

These are just a few things that I would have a check with if it happened to me, it's worth a shot anyway :)

Oh - Have you scanned for any spyware/viruses? I use Malware bytes. Restart in safe mode with networking (to update the program) and then check for infections

Thank you. I can't believe I didn't think of a system restore. This issue is fixed now. I rolled back 4 days. So do you think I downloaded something that caused this? Everything I had downloaded in the last few days (2 items) I uninstalled, but it didn't fix the problem. I even went in registry (dont yell at me lol) and deleted the items from there that I uninstalled.

I didn't have a lot of tool bars.
I had reset IE with no results.
    I did check add ons
I did not lose speed with other applications and I only have IE as my browser.
Does windows security scan for spyware? Its the only thing I'm using right now. I used to have Malware byte but then I reformatted my pc. It'll let me download but not scan without buying suddenly. I also loved that Eset (I think) scan but now suddenly you have to buy this too.

    Thank you very much!

Glad you have your problem fixed !

What do you mean by windows security?
MS Security Essentials, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, or something else?

What real-time security programs do you use for Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, etc. ?

I used to have Malware byte but then I reformatted my pc. It'll let me download but not scan without buying suddenly.
Did you have the Malwarebytes PRO (paid) version before, and now you don't?
The free version should allow on-demand scanning.
The paid version includes real-time protection.
You should not have to buy the PRO version to run a scan.

Yes, I use MS Essentials. I don't think Defender is activated... if that's the right word. I just use MS Essentials.

I don't know where I downloaded before, but I redownloaded Malwarebytes and it's scanning right now. So that's working.

    Thanks :)

I just have MS Security Essentials running but if I get the suspicion that something could be infecting the system, I'll run a check with malware bytes and 99% of the time that clears it all up :)

Glad it's all working now though

9 buggies were found and quarantined. Once it scanned it said my trial version was over. I tried to scan again, though, and it let me.

    Thanks again

    Glad you got it sorted.

If you ever do want the real-time Malwarebytes protection, the PRO version is normally ~ $25 USD.
You can find it on sale for $15-$20 sometimes at places like Newegg or Walmart.
It's a lifetime license (no annual fees).

I use Malwarebytes PRO and MS Security Essentials for real-time protection and don't have any issues running the two together.
