Welcome to Seven Forums jsbergner. Did this just start when you updated to 16.0.2? You might try toggling the spell checker off, then back on

Tools> Options> Advanced> General> Uncheck Check my spelling as I type

Restart FF and recheck it

Also, while in Gmail, start a new email, when in the text area, right click and choose Languages. Make sure the correct language is selected, or that there are not more then one listed.

I believe this may have started with an update. A Guy

Spell check errors

Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes, it did seem to start with the FF update.
I followed your suggestion and toggled the check as I type off and then back on.
Then closed FF, re opened, and started typing an email in Gmail.

Sorry to report the problem persists Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Best,

Jerry

Well, you are not alone. This thread on Googles forum is about the same thing

Google Groups

There is a suggested, updated dictionary there that may help.

Thanks Just A,

I tried installing the new dictionary, and still same problem.. Read thru most of the of the other thread as well. No solution just lots of ideas. It is interesting that for example do not have those issues typing here.... and in other browser windows in FF, just in gmail. Appreciate your efforts. I have thought of UN-installing the latest Firefox and going back to prior version, but have not gone there yet.....

I would have suggested an older FF, but it would be insecure It's odd this is happening on Gmail only. It is FF's spell checker, but something odd on Gmail is causing it, no doubt. Sorry I couldn't find a fix for you. Perhaps the next update will correct it. A Guy

I have been experiencing the same thing so 16.0.2 makes sense.

Thanks
