    Win 7 x64 Contacts Issues

C:\users\user\contacts is not ain a format that any of my prefered email prgs can use. Looked up instructions to convert to a coma delimited file. Pretty straight forward. Ok, the problem is when I'm in contacts I hit the <export> button and nothing happens. I'm supposed to get a choice of the type of file to export to but I don't. I've tried highlighting and copying and everything I could think of. Is there something I'm missing or what? I really need to convert my contacts. Any ideas?
    Tnx,
    Dusty

    Hi Dusty,

Please share the following details for some more clarity:
    - What is the name and version of the 'email program' that you are using
    - Are you trying to read the 'contact database file' using the email program?
(You have referred to 'Contacts C:\users\user\contacts')
    - What Email programs have you tried?
    - What was the 'initial format' of the 'contact database' on the system?
    - What is the 'current format' of the contacts?
    - You've also referred to the unsuccessful export of the 'contacts' using the Email application (Does any error message appear?)

Do reply with the details. I would be glad to assist.

    - What is the name and version of the 'email program' that you are using
    Thunderbird 16.0.2

    - Are you trying to read the 'contact database file' using the email program?
No. I'm going to C:\Users\user\contacts with Win Excplorer as indicated in the instruction for conversion

    - What Email programs have you tried?
None, I'm not trying to convert using any email program. I am trying to convert to a comma delimited file so I can import into an email program.

    - What was the 'initial format' of the 'contact database' on the system?
Whatever format MS has decided to use in Win 7. I've never seen this type of format before.

    - What is the 'current format' of the contacts?
    See Above

    - You've also referred to the unsuccessful export of the 'contacts' using the Email application
No, sorry if I was a bit obtuse. I'm going to C:\Uers\user\contacts Via Win explorer. There is a buttion marked <export> it's supposed to open a dialog box that asks which format you want to convert to. It does nothing. That's where I get lost. Sorry I was unclear before.

    Hi Dusty,

Thank you for the information; apologies for the delay in my response.

If the 'Export option' is missing, your 'Contacts folder' has apparently switched from it's proper default template.
You may try to 'Right click' on a blank area in the 'right pane', and select 'Customize this folder'; in the pull-down box, select 'Contacts' then click 'Ok'.

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

    Windows contacts will not export

All of my contacts are, of course, c:\\users\user\contacts. I've verified that they are all there. I need to export to a comma delimited file so I can import into my email program. I do everything by the book, when I click on <export> nothing happens. Months ago I printed all my contacts. Now, when I send email I look at the list and type the address in. Majorly inefficent. Anybody have a clue why I can't expiort my contacts? It would drive me mad if I wasn't mad already.
    Tnx,
    Dusty
