Browser windows open up automatically, pages constantly refresh virus?

I've had this problem for about a month now and its driving me insane! Basically, no matter which browser I use, the same thing happens. With firefox, I get a bunch of windows that open up at the same time, and while browsing (when tolerable), the tab I'm on refreshes itself and goes to the default page, forcing me to constantly press the back button. Also, let's say Im on google, as I start typing on the search bar, suddenly it acts as if I had clicked on something else, so whatever I type doesn't appear, or even goes off somewhere else... This also happens with chrome & even IE. I've tried Malwarebytes, spybot s&d & even a clean reinstall. I've currently got Bit defender installed & yet no avail. heeelp.

ps. not so much of a techie but I can work my way around it & can follow step by step instructions.

Also, I've also noticed that the cooling fan kicks on high every few minutes even after the "clean install" shortly after boot. ALSO*** My pc is a pavilion dv6 intel core i5 w/ 6gb ram...barely a year old..so im guessing this is also bc of the infection..

Considering the scans you have already done and that this has persisted through a reinstall, my first thought is a keyboard problem, sticking keys and or mapping\driver problems.

    Welcome to SF.

Can you upload a screenshot of your Browsers and Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs.

    Make scans with the following:

    -Kaspersky TDSSKiller

    -ESET online scanner

    Uninstall Bit Defender:

    Use MSE instead:

    Perform a System File Check:
    1. Click on the start
    2. Type CMD on Search
    3. Left click and Run as Administrator
    4. Type SFC /scannow

    Full tutorial here:

    Let us know your results.

I'm currently performing scans....I also just noticed that, this only occurs while the comp. is charging. As soon as I plug in the charger, multiple windows start opening up. When it's not plugged in, there's none of this strange behavior... what is this!?

I'll post results as soon as they're done.

Hmm I don't think this is an infection.

Have you cleared the dust accumulated inside the PC?
Unplug all cables from usb port for a few hours. Clean everything inside/out. (Especially the usb ports.)

And, try a different keyboard as well.

Please upload your msinfo32.nfo file. To get this: Start Menu -> Type msinfo32 into the Search programs and files box -> When it opens, go to File, Save -> Save as msinfo32.nfo and save in a place you will remember -> Let it finish the process of gathering and saving the system info -> Right click the .nfo file, click send to compressed (zipped) folder -> Upload the .zip file here.

@OP, I'll leave you in koolkat77's capable hands.

Since some infections will survive a "clean install" and those same infections can hide from most AV "online" tools, I pointed you to an offline scanner. Bit it really does not make sense that the behavior you are seeing would be an infection since most infections that start a browser want to show you webpages and the refresh thing does not fit the infection mold - although, it could be an infection that is not working as designed.

Odds are that koolkat77 is on the right track to look into a hardware issue... testing with an external keyboard should help a lot.

Ok so I tried the offline scan using the Windows Defender Offline tool & nothing came up. I also tried TDSSKiller and ESET....nothing. I've uploaded the msinfo32 zip file.

Here's a copy of a hijackthis log file...
