Outlook 2010 won't accept a specific email address

I have a specific email contact who can be reached directly through my Gmail on Google but every time I send directly from Outlook 2010 the email dies as "Invalid Recipient". This applies even if I am replying to a received email from that person so it is not a typo or similar personal error and it is the only contact which behaves like this.

Anyone out there with any ideas?

Do they have special non-alphanumeric characters in their username?

That's the only thing that I can think of.

Hmm, it does have an @ but that is not unusual with a private domain address.

Does he have an unusually long user name? I mean, is there anything unusual about it?

This is the full error message, I guess Greg won't mind me letting you see it:-

Oh, I wonder if it's not accepting/recognizing ".co.uk"!

I have Outlook 2003. I'll attempt to send him an e-mail from my twocables@comcast.net account.

So far, it looks like it worked. So, either something funny is going on with your computer (or just with your installation of Outlook 2010), or maybe Outlook 2010 just doesn't like ".co.uk" for some reason. Either way, I successfully sent a test e-mail to him.

Thanks for all the effort and ideas, it is very good of you.

Like so much of Microsoft it is likely to be some strange and unidentifiable thing. I don't have too much correspondence with Greg and I can always send directly from Gmail.

Oh, good. I have a very strong preference for using Outlook 2003 for all of my e-mailing, so that's where I'm coming from. So, I'm a bit relieved you have this flexibility.
