Firefox crashes constantly in Windows 7, auto restart?

Hi all, I'm not sure if someone else has asked about this, but I just installed the final release of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my desktop and Firefox constantly crashes on me. I'm guessing the main reason is because of a script I run through greasemonkey. My question is 2 fold:

1) Do you know how to fix this? I would really prefer to have firefox not crash every day (or multiple times a day)
2) If I can't keep firefox from crashing, do you know if there's a way I can get firefox to automatically restart when it crashes?

I actually just noticed that there's a newer version of firefox. I was using 3.0.14. I allowed me to download 3.5.3. If this works then that's awesome, if not I'd still be interested in a auto restart app or extension.

Hi schnoid, I have had many crashes with FF, especially with the newer versions. I am using Vista mostly, and 7 (build 7100) occasionally, just to get the feel for it until the 22nd when I'll buy the finished version. In Vista, the only versions for me that ran stable were 3.0.13 and 3.0.14. Did you check to see what the crash reports showed might be causing the problem? Check out this link if your not familiar with how to check that.Firefox crashes

Maybe whatever they do with the new 3.6 beta, might help Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta Due Next Week, 4.0 Next Year - PC World Otherwise Safari for Windows has been very nice, as you can change the toolbar, like FF.

Firefox crashes in Windows 7 !!

A work around for this issue I found is to change the properties of the Firefox application to Vista SP2 compatability mode. I also found this work around can be applied to other applications that wont install or just crash on loading. I have the latest version of Firefox with addons enabled and I have had no further problems.

Hope this helps.....

Problems with Firefox

Having just done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, I was bitterly disappointed to find the FF 3.5.4 was very troublesome-not so much with crashes but constant freezing. Not helped by disabling add-ons, then complete uninstall and reinstall.
All other programs including IE 8 run quickly without freezing, and all other aspects of Windows 7 function are fine.
None of the suggestions in various forums helped, so I have just installed the 3.6 beta1 version. While nowhere near as fast as on Vista (and interestingly, for the many months I used FF 3.5 with the Windows 7 Ultimate RC on this PC and a netbook), the freezing is much less problematic. I am prepared to wait for my favourite add-ons to be updated (although much missed) as FF 3.5.4 was close to unusable on this machine.
Hope that may help another frustrated FF fan.

Still crashing...

I thought I would try the new Beta, but I am having more frequent crashes now. I am running Windows 7 Pro/64
I am going to do a system restore to before I installed the beta as it has not helped and I want my addons back

I tried using Internet explorer and it is also crashing... Any news on when Microsoft are going to fix these crashes.

At least my windows explorer has stopped crashing.

Given up on Firefox

I missed my add-ons, particularly Roboform, 3.6Beta1is freezing to some extent, and I found that FF 3.5.4 is a source of great frustration, so am using IE8- not easy to return to after years as a Firefox user, and can't get IE8 to print web pages.
What I don't understand is why I had no problems with Firefox while using Windows 7 Ultimate RC on this very machine!

amelia22, I can relate with what your going through, as I had to install the newer version of FF to help another software I have to work properly, and I still have the crashing problems. For now I've imported my Favorites into Safari for Windows, as that seems to be the most stable of the two, and I like that the toolbar can be tweaked like you can with FF.

Safari also has some better performance numbers that FF. (IE8 didn't perform a graphics test in this benchmark, and thus has a lower score, yet would still be ranked last)
