Cant open anything on the internet except for google.ca

I can connect to my internet and open my google homepage on my laptop, but as soon as I try to go to a different website or search for something I get "Internet explorer is not responding" and then I have to wait a couple minutes as my computer slows right down and is very unresponsive before I can close the page. Sometimes when I press ctrl+alt+delete it doesnt work and a warning comes up saying its not working and to turn off or restart my computer. I havent had a working anti-virus for a while. I'm sorry this information is probably very vague but I have no idea whats going on and any help would be greatly appreciated because I need that computer for homework!

Hello and welcome raven sounds like the machine is infected and prompts me to ask why did you not run an anti virus program when there are so many good free ones around?

If you can and have access to another machine you could download a scanner to a USB stick and then run the scanner from the stick in safe mode on your machine.

One that come immediately to mind is Malwarebytes Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

Some system specs would be good too this is good for finding them Speccy - Download < download from piriform and run the same as the Malwarebytes.

Why in the world would you not have a anti virus when their so many free ones. I recommend also installing MSE and update it and then use the long scan.

You may need more cleaning after doing what ICit2lol and I have suggested. Please let us know what the results are.
