Windows 7: Getting email notification sounds even after the screen is locked

I need a little help figuring this out.



I have a number of Windows 7 laptops that have to have automatic timeouts that lock the screen. However, when the screen locks, I no longer am able to hear the Windows 7 email notification sound from outlook when exchange sends it a message and have no notification of new emails. Is there a way to force Windows 7 to display this information. I know it is possible in Windows 8, but I can't find anything on Windows 7.

Just for a couple of hours. You get back plenty of links on doing it to Windows 8. Hundreds of links on muting sound when it goes into being locked and absolutely nothing on continuing to get windows notifications from email on Windows 7 when the screen is locked.
