For me in Firefox, I just have to use my up or down arrow keys to select what I don't want and then press Delete.

So if you're not using Firefox, then which browser are you using?

I'm not sure about Google Chrome, but I recommend trying what works for me in Firefox. Use the up or down arrow keys to select, and then press the Delete key.

If pressing Delete doesn't do anything, then I'm sure there's another way.

Oh, I just learned that you have to press Shift+Delete instead of just Delete. Try that!

Wait, so selecting it and pressing Shift+Delete makes it go away but it's still there?

After trying it several different ways, it does nothing, but after i selected it, then Shift/delete, it does go away. then when I start to type again, auto fill-in brings it right back up... :0

I wonder if that's specific to gMail and completely independent of your browser... Like, I am wondering now if this is on their end and not yours.
