IMAP folders "all' or 'inbox' not visible in windows live mail

I've just set up a new imap email account in live mail. the folders were created on another computer using outlook, however do not appear on the webmail. Once the account was set up all of the folders synced ok, except that the "all" or "inbox" does not appear --meaning that all unread mail remains on the webmail, but does not download onto this computer -- only the mail that has been moved into the folders.

When I click on the account name in the left column the screen remains blank -- for other accounts this is where the inbox appears with unread mail, or it says "there are no items in this view".

I have tried closing and reopening Live mail, but nothing changed.

Can anyone tell me why it is not downloading the "inbox" folder....please

    Regards C
