Encrypt C:/Users/username as an alternative to "In Private" Browsing

"In Private" browsing might be better than nothing, but it has no memory. I am wondering if a viable alternative might be to create a User just for private browsing and encrypt that directory in C:/Users/user? Would that let me have "favorites" that were private? And would that allow sessions to restart after a crash?

    Thanks, Bob

Not sure if I would encrypt the entire /user folder. you would need to unencrypt before doing anything else at that point.

"In Private" just means that no cookies/images/etc. are being stored permenantly on your computer. they are still saved temporarily, accessible, and recoverable and not encrypted...
    What is InPrivate Browsing?

you could alternatively go with a standalone browser that runs from a USB Drive instead if this is that much of a concern and have the drive encrypted with truecrypt or something similar TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source On-The-Fly Disk Encryption Software for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux

I have not done this though, so maybe someone with actual first-hand knowledge can give their advice, but this is what I would think is the most secure.

Or...you could just forget all about it and make sure no one else uses your computer or use your account. Furthermore, another user should not have administrative power...Now if you are the only person who uses your computer...I find these privacy concerns silly.

You may also use a real browser instead of IE. If you download a portable version, all the data will be stored in the program folder instead of AppData, so you can easily conceal and apply special permissions for it.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do so I will just tell you what I do.
None of my browsers save anything except Favorites/Bookmarks. When I'm done browsing I use Ccleaner to do a quick clean of things.
