Youtube videos reset when skipping through buffered parts

    Youtube playback issue - YouTube

Whenever I watch youtube videos and skip to a buffered part, the buffered part goes away and it somewhat resets and starts at the time i skipped.

I just installed a fresh copy of windows and only installed a stock version of chrome.

thanks to anyone who'll help :)

E: I have 5mbps down. the problem seems to go awat if i watch 360p/240p

That is pretty much the norm at higher resolutions... it re-buffers if you click ahead, even if you click in the region that has already buffered. I'm not sure why Google/YouTube does it like this; not all websites do this.

This has been happening to me on and off for a long time now. It seems to me that some videos do it and some don't and it seems to me that the behavior never changes for each video.

YouTube just seems a bit inconsistent like that, but it might be due to the way the user created the video as well.

So it doesn't really phase me anymore when I click ahead inside of the buffered area and I lose all of the previously buffered video.
