    internet explorer

I have I/E 9.0.8112 installed. It will no longer come up when I click on it. I have tried to download I/E 9, get message that newer version is installed. I have gone to 'installed updates' on the control panel but found no I/E updates, I have searched with Google for potential solutions; no luck. what i would like to do is install a new copy of I/E but don't know how

    Hi rnhende,

Take a look inside Task Manager and see if you see anything with iexplorer.exe inside the Processes tab if you do click on iexplorer.exe and press End Process . Then launch Internet Explorer again

To open up task manager :

Right click on the taskbar and choose Start Task Manager

    Or

Click on the button, type taskmgr and press [ENTER]

With ie10 being released as a Important windows update for the last couple of weeks/ possibly more for some regions it's more than likely ie10 was loaded on you,
    Delete your browser history,
Click the Start button and click on Control panel/ Internet options/ General section/ Delete button,
Check All of the boxes and Uncheck the very top box,
    Click on Delete.

    Reset ie9 or ie10 manually,
Click the Start button on the Taskbar,
    Click on Control panel,
    Click on Internet options,
    Go to the Advanced section,
Click on Reset button on the bottom,
Check the box to Delete personal settings,
Use the recommended setup and install options.
    Shut down your machine.
    If nothing positive happens,
    Change Windows update settings first,
Click the Start button and click on Control panel,
Click on Windows update or System and security depending on how the Page view is,
Then click on Change settings either on the Left column or under System and security,
Then you will see this page where you'll need to alter the way you receive Windows updates,
    https://33giqq.bn1.livefilestore.com/y1pTVkJ7OVZ8pNcUjoDE2vfxQ2fT-u1G5h06RHiQFR_lS-4GdQgq0-6UzO5qIClH3RNh72_WzMpDFsSiRBa5pP_N6d2YItfpTYK/Change%20win-updates.jpg?psid=1
After you alter the way you receive windows updates you can proceed with the Uninstall of ie10,
Click the Start button and click on Control panel again,
Click on Uninstall a program or Programs and features,
On the top left click on View installed updates,
This is where you would find ie10 listed Right click it and click on Uninstall,
    Boot when prompted,
ie10 will roll back to ie9 automatically,
    After that,
    Check for Windows updates,
ie10 will appear as a Important windows update,
Right click it and click on Hide.
You can leave the windows update setting the way it is or change it back to default,
I pretty much just Manually run windows update every Wednesday

As Vista King mentioned. Stop any iexplorer.exe processes. Again try to launch IE. Does it launch a new iexplorer.exe process, but just not open the interface? If so, a quick test is to boot to Safe Mode with Networking and see if it launches ok there.

    Safe Mode

If so, I would try a clean start to see if there is a conflict

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

If no change in safe mode, how are you trying to launch IE? From a shortcut? From the start menu? From the IE folder in programs? Does the same apply to IE (64 Bit)? Does Windows Update open correctly when launched from the all programs on the start menu?
