    IE 10 and Enter Key

I installed IE 10 few weeks back and have only one issue of significance so far. I'm in a forum--- who isn't :--) ---and the enter/return key will not work for me when posting.

All was fine with IE9. No I have to click some little a/A button, and I lose all of my html(?) formatting but that then allows the enter/return key function. Kind of weird.

Don't have that problem here at W& forums or other forums, just this one specific forum.

So, guess I need to contact owner and get their advice. I did go to editor and click standard text but still no worky and I really want of the html color etc formatting.

    Hello R6,

You might also see if using IE Compatibility View on the site may be able to help.

    Hope this helps, :)

    Thx Brink Compatibility OK

Thx Brink, read that stuff, my compatibility within tool sub-sub-menu was grayed out,so that is not the problem.

To be clear, I have no problem viewing the html formatting of the forum and its email posts, attachments, drawings, color fonts, bold etc.....it is only when I go to reply or post my self that my /enter/return key I cannot get cursor to go to next line as it should

See here, I have done it no problem at all, and in that is case in my other forums no problem with enter/return key doing its function. Also to be clear, this was all fine and only with IE10 introduction did this new--- relatively minor issue ---begin.

It is just one of those funny--- or slightly annoying ---quirks of the complexities interacting program codings etc....I will contact owner and maybe he will have and idea. I'm doubtful but his forum is one of the more complex forums that I'm aware of cause he attemtps to offer so much stuff, variable and possible ways of communicating between members.

I will let you know if I ever get it figured out. No need to bust a nerve cell of over it....

Odd. I would definitely contact the site administrator about that to see if he/she may be able to assist.

I would definitely try Option Three in Shawn's tutorial. This is a very common problem in IE 10 it seems. People cannot make line breaks, etc. with the enter key. The common "fix" is compatibility view. Even if nothing else has display issues, and the grayed out setting seems to confirm no compatibility issues.

May well be a javascript setting

    OR a VBulletin issue

Standard editor is said to work OK, advanced editor does not.

As soon as the ckEditor is IE10 ready, it should work in vBulletin too again.

    IE10 Enter Key compatbility Fixed!

Thx A Guy, I went back to the forum to try again, but this time I was on more of the main forum page when I clicked "tools" and this time 'compatiblity view" was not grayed out. I was all set to click "compatibility view" as you suggested.

It appears to me, that being on one of the more generalized pages of the forum made the difference.

Sure enough, as soon as I went to quick reply or go advanced buttons the buttons rectangular outline was more pronounced/defined/bold-like.

So thx again cause I like to use the html extras. So many good PC experts around here is so very helpful to many.

Yeah, Thx again and again it was grayed out the first time--- after your initial reply to me ---and again, I think that was because I was already into the reply post page or something like that because "compatiblitly" was definitely grayed out.

It was only after a Guy mentioned the "computability view" that I revisted and approached issue from main forum page.

I still have your recommend Belarc on my desktop and on occasion have need to revist it when I make some changes. Come to think of it tho, after I installed Spyblaster is when I last revised Belarc page and I was specifically looking for Spyblaster on that page.

I could not find it. I forget if MBAM was there or not. No biggie but I remember being surprised that I did not find it.
