Windows 7: Site to Zone

Site to Zone

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me out with a slight problem and I am posting the correct forum!

Ok we have Windows 7 laptops runing IE8, all controlled with Group Policy and a Site to Zone Assignment list to control IE traffic. We also use SharePoint, and all SharePoint entries are in the S2Z list as Intranet Sites (1) and we have external access from any outside connection to these sites, so you can log on to your home PC and access https://++++++++.++++++++++.org and then sign in with your AD credentials.

The issue is that any of our company Windows 7 laptops try to access this URL with IE8 while on an external network they get page cannot be displayed, and any other Browser or non work laptop it works OK. Seems obvious as the GP that was last applied to the laptop set this URL as 1 (intranet Site) and when trying to load off the LAN it is 3 (internet Site).

I have been advised that as the FQDN for the URL is being applied by GP, it should still pick this up when off line and recognize as a safe site and load is this true? Any help please?
