how to change FF newtab page

For those of us who use FF as a browser and wants to change that crappy new tab page. Here's how...

1: Type about:config in the address bar
2: click I'll be careful, I promise box
    3: search for "browser.newtab.url"
4: right click and click modify
    5: change to about:home
    6: save and exit out.

I use Tab Mix Plus addon. For the new tab it allows to choose between blank page, new tab page, home page, current page, duplicate page with history, among a lot of other options related to tabs that should have been there already.

I tried the the new tab add on for home page from FF, but after doing so, the browser would take 3 to 5 seconds to load...it did it since version 18 and on and on separate machines as well running different OS's. Before the add on it would load instantaneously and then with the addon the long load time, get rid of the add on back to instantaneously. Just aggravating for me.
