Chrome address bar behavior

I don't know why this started happening but it only started today I think. I used to be able to enter "g" into the address bar and it would suggest "gmail.com" to me because that is my most visited site that starts with a g. If I typed "go" it would change that suggestion to "google.com". Now it doesn't do that and makes my browsing less efficient! When I press "g" it would suggest a google search for "g", if I pressed "go" it would suggest a google search for google! This is stupid, how do I change this back?

Hi there ..... Go to Chrome settings ..... Then advanced settings ..... Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar ..... Make sure that box is ticked .... Then save

Hope this helps
